Morning Fastbreakers

                                                       Maxxwells

Turning eyesores into eye catching locations. It is happening all over the heart of Tulsa. Along Cherry Street, in the Brady and Blue Dome Districts. Now be sure and include the area of 11th Street. Spurred on by the remaking of the University of Tulsa "front door" an old rundown building east of Lewis was turned into the Campbell Hotel and next to the hotel at 2636 East 11th Street is the Maxxwells Restaurant.

After breakfasting on the Denver and Southwest Omelettes and Jumbo Cinnamon Roll the Tulsa Breakfast Club's initial rating was a B+. However, the restaurant decor and extremely friendly staff led us to bump up the grade to A-.

The only negative comments were that the Southwest Omellette could have been warmer and the hash browns a little more crisp. We learned they were training a new cook so those problems are easily corrected.

The omelettes were fluffy and generously filled with veggies and meats. Also the cheese was nice and melted. Our Clubber who ordered the Jumbo Cinnamon Roll considers himself an expert in the baked treat. He raved about the roll and the unique lightly caramel flavored icing.

A nice plus is that the restaurant walls are decorated with old photos of downtown Tulsa. One Club member was able to spot his Dad's shop next to the old Ritz Theater in one picture. Another photo showed downtown laden with ticker tape when the end of WWII was announced in 1945.

It would be worth your while to head along Old Route 66 (11th Street) to give Maxxwells a try.
