     El Rio Verde
Featured in Tulsa People magazine.

Today the Tulsa Breakfast Club members opted for some “south-of-the boarder authentic Mexican food. The Restaurant El Rio Verde is located north of Interstate 244 and just two blocks west of Utica Avenue at 38 North Trenton Avenue. This location has a mix of light industrial buildings and residential neighborhoods interspersed.

El Rio Verde opened during 1998 and since that time has been recognized as one of the best Mexican restaurants in Tulsa. According to on-line Trip Advisor, El Rancho Verde is ranked number 19 on a list of 1,045 restaurants in the Tulsa area. The restaurant is medium to small by comparison, with a warm friendly atmosphere. Breakfast is served from 8:30 – 11:00 AM daily.

We selected three offerings from the breakfast menu:
Breakfast Quesadilla that came stuffed with choice of chorizo, bacon, chicken, or steak. (Our member choose all of the above) It also includes melted jack cheese, scrambled eggs, salsa, and home potatoes. The offering was served with sour cream and homemade guacamole.

Bistec and Eggs (Translated, Bistec is Steak in Spanish) the eggs were cooked over easy with generous portions of steak and “Verde Potatoes.” Verde potatoes are cooked hash browned with bell peppers, onions, and cilantro.

Fajita Omelette is stuffed with your choice of either chicken or steak. (Our member choose chicken) The omelette also includes bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and topped with cheddar cheese and salsa. This dish was served with Verde Potatoes. Other choices are Diced Home Potatoes or Hash Browns.

Our waitress was extremely attentive keeping fresh brewed coffee in our cups and checking to see if anything else was needed. The selections were generous and we all agreed the food was representative of the many awards bestowed upon El Rio Verde. We gave this fine restaurant an “A” rating.
