Morning Fastbreakers

The Pearl in Tulsa
The Phoenix

The Pearl District was the latest stop for the Tulsa Breakfast Club. The neighborhood to the East of downtown is undergoing a rebirth. Giving the renewal a major boost is the recently opened Phoenix. By day, it is a cafe/coffee house/sandwich shop. At night, it shifts into a popular watering hole.

Located at 1302 E. 6th Street, right on the corner of 6th and S. Peoria, The Phoenix for the morning crowd offers a cozy place to grab a coffee and bagel. Two in our trio ordered bagel sandwiches and both were very pleased with the chewiness and flavor of the bagels.

The Breakfast of Champions is a basic sausage, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich. The sausage had a touch of hot spice but it was not overpowering. The Green Eggs and Ham proved another good choice with spinach in the eggs and highlighted by honey dijon poppy seed dressing. Our club member selected a sea salt with pepper bagel for his sandwich.

The Don Quixote was the third breakfast choice. Instead of a bagel our diner opted for freshly baked wheat toast. Along with sausage and cheese this breakfast sandwich includes jalapeno salsa.

The likely proof the food was good was the fact two members of the club purchased some bagels and rolls to go. However if you are in a hurry the Phoenix may not be the place to go. This is not a criticism but only an observation. We suggest when going to the Phoenix you give yourself a little extra time. The servers are not in a hurry, yet the product is worth the wait.

All of us felt the coffee is also a highlight. The cafe offers several coffee and espresso choices, but not too many to be confusing.

The Tulsa Breakfast Clubs overall grade is "B".
