Morning Fastbreakers

The Savoy Restaurant

Dear faithful TBC readers, this time the clubbers went Stompin’ at the Savoy for breakfast. No, not the iconic Savoy of London with its shamefully old fashioned
glamor and glitter. We went stompin’ at the Savoy Restaurant in Tulsa, 6033 South Sheridan Rd, 918-494-5621.

The Savoy in Tulsa is a little more austere than the lavish Savoy of London or even Miami Beach. It is known more for its famous Cinnamon Rolls and Caramel Pecan Rolls which are sent all over the world through its subsidiary company, Savoy Foods. The Savoy foods are handmade never adding preservatives or artificial ingredients.

Crowded as it was, we got prompt service. The first clubber had the California Skillet, a mound of scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese, and potatoes. Lots of home style brown potatoes. It was topped with several slices of avocado.

The second clubber ordered the Farmers Breakfast comprised of two eggs, hash browns covered with green peppers, onions, and sausage with a side order of pancakes. His complaint was that the he felt that the hash browns were under done and the pancakes tasted like from a mix.

The third clubber has a weakness for cinnamon rolls, so that is what he ordered.
The specialty of the house and world famous Cinnamon Roll came with butter patties. It was the large baked cinnamon roll with just the right amount of icing. The sweet sticky gooey moist texture was maintained throughout with generous amounts of cinnamon sprinkled between the folds. Great.

The waitress was great . She was sparkly, friendly, accurate with orders, and kept the coffee cups filled. The Savoy uses medium weight flatware, not too heavy and not too light.

We gave the Savoy a “B.”
