Morning Fastbreakers

Queenie's

Today was not a day like any other day. Today….we….the Fast Breakers of the popular Tulsa Breakfast Club….had our morning repast at Queenie’s Café & Bakery in Utica Square, 918.749.3481. It was a gorgeous morning and people had flocked to dine outside. Very European. They serve heavy stainless steel eating utensils, which is usually an indication of good food.

Their breakfast menu is rather eclectic, nevertheless, two of us ordered their “Basic Breakfast” which is basic, two eggs, chunky potatoes, wheat toast, trimmings, and what they called “apple smoked bacon.” To me, the taste was more like plain bacon. *1 One of the basics came with a side order, a ramekin of grits with swirls of cheddar cheese mixed in. We were told it was good. *2

The third clubber ordered the homemade buttermilk pancakes with blueberries evenly distributed throughout each pancake. They were lightly crisp on the edges and fluffy in the center and were accompanied with a jar of syrup, not just a little cupful. They looked wonderful. *3

The bakery section was a delight. I spied a chocolate cake with chocolate icing that looked out of this world. Being a “chocoholic,” I bought a slice to go. *4

Although the name is a little strange, the place is very clean looking and the service is continuous. We gave it a B+.
