Morning Fastbreakers

 Daily Grill

Today was a very gloomy overcast day. The fast breakers scheduled a drop-in at the Daily Grill at 100 East Second Street, 918-295-7748. There are about twenty throughout the nation. We graced the one connected with the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Tulsa across from the Rotary Club Plaza with the enormous bronze globe.

The employees were very cordial and the hostess very striking as she went from table to table making sure everyone was pleased. The ambiance had a sense of wealth and yet there was not one thing we could point to as being distinctive to the Daily Grill, other than the name, of course.

The first clubber ordered Eggs Benedict; two poached eggs on grilled Canadian beacon and toasted English muffins, topped with homemade Hollandaise sauce. It was very good. The second clubber ordered the Protein Scramble; three eggs scrambled with link sausage, beacon, and fresh spinach. His report was favorable. The third clubber went for the Three Eggs; with link sausage. It was good.

As critics, we must endure the bad along with the good and the modest along with the outrageous, that is part of the job. Their menu was very appealing. It ran the usual gamut of breakfast dishes, however, the prices were almost double.

On a side note, the first clubber forgot his glasses and had to grope with the tiny print on the menu. The second clubber suddenly remembered he left his cell phone on top his car back at the club. The third clubber was the only one who had it together.

The Daily Grill does serve a unique Levain bread that has been raved about for many years. However, the exorbitant pricing makes frequenting the Daily Grill unlikely, worthy as it may be.

We debated the grade and settled on a “B” because of the high prices. There was nothing extra special to warrant the bloated cost.
