918 Coffee Shop

The coffee house culture originated in 18th century London becoming a meeting place for politicians, merchants, and writers. At the coffee houses they would sip on the bean brew and discuss the events of the day. The coffee houses proved to be the germination point for some of the greatest works of English Literature.

Today's coffee house tends to be the place to work on a laptop, but they are also a good place to sit and talk. The 918 Coffee Shop at 2446 E. 11th is as good a place as any for some enjoyable discussion. However if you hoped for the best cup of coffee you ever had, this may  not be the place. 918 features the Coda Coffee brand out of Denver.

Our Tulsa Breakfast Clubbers who ordered black coffee indicated it was adequate while the cappuccino was surprisingly weak. The food selection was extremely limited to a couple of muffins, two kinds of sweet rolls, and some bagels. By the way if you want cream cheese for your bagel it costs about a buck more.

We were struck with how clean the 918 Coffee Shop is and while not a warm environment it is comfortable. One Club member missed the coffee aroma so common in coffee shops. To be fair, there was painting underway in the hall leading to the 918. The paint fumes over powered the coffee aroma.
