                                              Chimera Cafe

The latest trip by The Tulsa Breakfast Club was to Tulsa's past and its restored present. We ventured to the Brady Arts District on the northern edge of Downtown. There we dined at Chimera Cafe, 212 North Main Street.

This was a marked contrast to the Club's recent outing at a restaurant that served platters with food literally hanging off the side. If you want to gorge yourself Chimera is not the place. However, if you want to feel satisfied and energized for the rest of your morning then give it a try.

Chimera's menu offers a variety of breakfast tacos. We tried three. The Teenage Riot is made of egg, fauxrizo, caramelized onion, cheddar, avocado crema. The Disapearer taco boasted egg, bacon, cheddar, chipotle crema, and cilantro. Finally the Green Eggs and Ham taco is made with basil, pesto, monterey jack and the egg and bacon.

The overall reaction to the food was good. The cafe prides itself on using mostly locally grown produce and products. All served in triangular shaped baskets.

We tried a number of different coffee drinks and were very pleased.

There were drawbacks. The ordering process (at the main counter) was very slow. Getting the order served also took longer than it should. There was a water spill at our table that was never cleaned up and when we wanted water there was a wait for some clean glasses.

But again the food was good and Chimera Cafe earned a solid B+ from The Tulsa Breakfast Club.

Tip; Proper way to eat this breakfast taco is to use a fork to eat the top part and then you will be able to eat the rest like a regular taco.
