Morning Fastbreakers

Evelyn's Soul Food

Dear Readers,

We, the Tulsa Breakfast Club, go to the ends of the earth or at least Tulsa, endure all kinds of strange foods, and spare no expense to bring our followers breakfast reviews.  Fortunately, this morning was not one of those places. Evelyn’s Soul Food Restaurant at 3014 N. 74th East Ave., may be a little tricky to find, but it is worth it. “It is food for the soul.” We understand she also has the best fried chicken around.

Directions to get there are: Get on 36th street north and head towards  74th E Ave. When you see the Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium (TASM), turn south, that is 74th E Ave. Drive a couple of blocks or until you see a small clump of trees hiding a parking lot and Evelyn’s on the other side.  It is a large restaurant, VERY clean, and the ambience  has a comfortable home quality to it.

Be hungry when you go, they definitely do not skimp on the servings. Also, everything is made to order, nothing is pre-dished.  We gave Evelyn's an A-.

Two pork chops, fried potatoes, and grits.

The Western Omelet. Oversized..but tasty. Plenty of onions, green peppers and cheese.

Country ham, eggs, hash browns, and toast.
