Morning Fastbreakers

                                                      Boiler Room

This morning the fast breakers visited the Boiler Room in the Mayo Hotel. It is remodeled and is no longer the dark scary place it once was. It is open and fun with Andy Warhol style paintings and flat TVs on the walls. The servers wear chic black shirts that button up the side and have a Nehru collar with the Mayo logo on the left.
However, the menu is about a whopping 8”x8” in size. Inside there are four columns to select from. That includes brunch and lunch. The do not serve breakfast, they serve brunch. It sounds a little more uppity.

One of the breakers ordered the American Hero, two eggs, bacon, sausage, and one pancake. He had eggs over easy. They were nicely cooked. It came with several slices of bacon and one sausage patty. The pancake came with a three inch square patty of butter and was unusually tasty, with a hint of tartness. Unfortunately, the waitress was clueless as to how it was made and she was not interested in the mystery of it all. It was obvious she didn’t know who we were. Anyway, they also served Topeca Coffee which is a local favorite.

The second breaker went for the chef’s choice of the day, the Breakfast Taco. It was similar to a burrito filled with taco veggies and came with a very good salsa. The only problem was that it was a soft shell taco wrapped in foil. Wrapping it made the shell soggy and eating it became a problem.

The third faster ordered the Chef’s Omelet of the Day. It was an artistic selection of seasonal ingredients in a three egg omelet served with breakfast potatoes. He also ordered a small V-8. The salt and pepper were in odd shaped silver shakers, but fit together.  We all felt the food was good, but there was an impediment which caused it to cool. We gave it a “B.”
